What You’ll Do

As a Scientist II you will conduct basic research using fermentation experiments and other biological models and analyses.  In this role, you will develop procedures for understanding anaerobic mix culture fermentation.  In this role, you will perform research as part of a multidisciplinary team to plan and execute experiments and effectively communicate results to stakeholders.


Who You'll Work With

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and oversee experiments aimed at testing the effects of various process conditions on the fermentation process at the bench scale level.



Who You Are

You will play a pivotal role, overseeing chemostat fermentations within the lab and providing guidance by promptly addressing operational queries.  In addition to hands-on involvement in data analysis derived from fermenters, you will take charge of designing experiments related to chemostat fermentations. Beyond technical responsibilities, a key aspect of this role involves mentoring junior scientists, fostering their scientific development, and advancing their careers. This collaborative dynamic ensures a synergistic growth environment within our Microbiology/Fermentation group.



Minimum Requirements:

  • Master Of Science or Ph.D. plus 2-4 years of industrial experience (Microbiology, Food Science, Biology, Biotechnology)

  • Strong knowledge of upstream bioprocess development techniques for microbial products.

  • Knowledge of anerobic fermentation and microbial physiology.

  • Good knowledge in the field of metagenomics of microbiomes, with understanding of bioinformatics.

  • Strong statistical and data analysis skills.

  • Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to support multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Establish internal microbiology research capabilities by planning and equipping a laboratory environment capable of aerobic and anaerobic microbiological research.

  • Promote a culture of safety, responsible laboratory practices, and continuous improvement within the laboratory.

  • Some weekend and holiday coverage will be needed.



Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience producing volatile fatty acids by anaerobic fermentation would be highly valuable.

  • Experience with statistical software programs such as JMP

What You’ll Do

  • As a Chemist I at BioVeritas, you will conduct routine and non-routine analyses on raw materials, intermediate products, and finished products using a range of analytical techniques while adhering to established procedures and protocols.  Analyze and interpret test results, comparing them against established specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.  Document and maintain records of analytical data, test results, and observations, ensuring accuracy and traceability.  Support the routine maintenance of analytical instrumentation, identifying and escalating issues which may impact their performance and availability.

What You’ll Do

You will be extremely forward-thinking with a professional and approachable demeanor in all interactions; possess outstanding communication skills with all levels of staff, executives, customers, vendors; and good judgment.


  • Calendar Management: Handle Chief Operating Officers (COO) and teams calendar by prioritizing schedules and meetings. You may decide who gets on the principal’s calendar, which meetings are attended, and who can attend in their place.

  • Event Speaking Engagement Coordination: Handles a running list of engagements and works closely with communications team to ensure content needs are understood and set in motion so the COO is prepared for each engagement.

  • Meeting Planning and organizations: Assists COO in planning and organizing meetings by being responsible for the assembling of the agenda, location, meeting technology based upon participant needs, and all other meeting logistics. May further prepare meeting briefing documents by taking and disseminating notes and formulating post meeting action item list.

  • Travel: Responsible for making travel arrangements for the COO. Carefully considers and decides the optimum travel arrangements and itinerary for calendared meetings.

  • Special Projects: Provides analytical support to assist executives on special projects. Research issues, analyzes problems, compiles data, and prepares reports.

  • Confidentiality: Candidate will deal professionally with sensitive and confidential matters and materials.


Who You'll Work With

You will report to and support the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and team. You’ll work closely with the database management team, other Executive Assistants, and Administrative Assistants across the business.


Who You Are

You have experience providing support at C-Level level. You take the initiative, can handle a full desk with ease and thrive in a lively environment.


  • Minimum Requirements:

  • (4+ years’ experience in administrative environment. A minimum of 2 years of experience supporting a C-Level.

  • Experience in planning meetings and coordinating travel.

  • Expert level knowledge of Windows desktop computer applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.


  • Preferred Requirements:

  • Associate degree
